Kathy Delaney, of Fabric Crayon Designs, is no stranger to fabric and knows her way around a needle and sewing machine. Kathy began her love of fabric as a young girl when her mother, an avid seamstress, taught her to sew. Earning Kathy’s Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Arizona honed her skills in color and painting. Nearly 20 years after graduating, she began painting with fabric.
An avid applique artist, Kathy’s style is traditional but with a flair. Her seven books also include skills in piecing and finishing quilts and include everything from choosing a machine and fabric to binding and labeling the quilt. Kathy has been teaching quilt making since 1996 and has taught on the local, regional, national and international level. One of her favorite quilt making endeavors is teaching others to love making quilts, especially applique quilts, as much as she does.
In addition to her seven published books, Kathy’s work has appeared in several magazines, as well as other authors’ books, and she appeared in an episode of SIMPLEY QUILTS WITH ALEX ANDERSON.
Kathy resides in the Kansas City Metro with her husband of 51 years and is enjoying the “senior life style” having moved to a retirement community recently.
